"Satan is the arch-counterfeiter." "An honest heart loves the Truth" "An honest heart is open to the Word" "Satan is not an initiator but an imitator." "An honest heart ceases fighting against God" "After grief for sin there should be joy for forgiveness." "Faithful people have always been in a marked minority." "The Christian life is a life that consists of following Jesus." "There is a Holy Trinity, and there is likewise a Trinity of Evil" "Happy the soul that has been awed by a view of God's majesty" "Sin is more than an act or a series of acts; it is a man’s make-up." "Taking up my “cross” means a life voluntarily surrendered to God." "The first step toward a daily following of Christ is the denying of self." "An honest heart seeks to please God in all things and offend Him in none." "Nothing will keep the heart tender so much as cultivating the spirit of filial awe." "In contradistinction to the Gospel of Christ, the gospel of Satan teaches salvation by works." "The cross stands for definite realities which embody and express the leading characteristics of Christ's agony." "Yes, give thanks for "all things" for, as it has been well said "Our disappointments are but His appointments." "Daily living by faith on Christ is what makes the difference between the sickly and the healthy Christian, between the defeated and the victorious saint." "Thousands are deceived into supposing that they have "accepted Christ" as their "personal Saviour", who have not first received Him as their LORD." "Every Christian will readily allow that sin is insidious, but it is one thing to recognize this in theory and quite another to be regulated by it in practice." "To the one who delights in the sovereignty of God the clouds not only have a 'silver lining' but they are silvern all through, the darkness only serving to offset the light!" "The truth of God may well be likened to a narrow path skirted on either side by a dangerous and destructive precipice: in other words, it lies between two gulfs of error." "Though poor in this world’s goods, though grieving the loss of loved ones, though suffering pain of body, though harassed by sin and Satan, though hated and persecuted by worldlings, whatever be the case and lot of the Christian, it is both his privilege and duty to rejoice in the Lord." "In contradistinction to the Gospel of Christ, the gospel of Satan teaches salvation by works. It inculcates justification before God on the ground of human merits. Its sacramental phrase is "Be good and do good"; but it fails to recognize that in the flesh there dwelleth no good thing. It announces salvation by character, which reverses the order of God’s Word—character by, as the fruit of, salvation." "Satan is the arch-counterfeiter. As we have seen, the Devil is now busy at work in the same field in which the Lord sowed the good seed. He is seeking to prevent the growth of the wheat by another plant, the tares, which closely resembles the wheat in appearance. In a word, by a process of imitation he is aiming to neutralize the Word of Christ. Therefore, as Christ has a Gospel, Satan has a gospel too; the latter being a clever counterfeit of the former. So closely does the gospel of Satan resemble that which it parades, multitudes of the unsaved are deceived by it." Compiled by Thomas
